Welcome and thank you for visiting my therapy practice. My work with children and families is guided by my belief that healthy functioning and development occurs within an environment rich with safe, nurturing relationships. As a therapist, my primary goal is to create a space that is warm, comfortable, and secure, so that we can work collaboratively toward your family’s goals.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Development and Psychology from Tufts University. I then received my Masters and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology, with a concentration in Children and Families, from the American School of Professional Psychology in Arlington, Virginia. My training and postdoctoral experiences have included work in community based mental health clinics, schools, and private practice settings. I have extensive experience with the preschool age population, both working with families as an outpatient therapist and within therapeutic preschool programs. My most recent places of employment include Family Compass and the Reginald S. Lourie Center, both settings specifically targeting the treatment of children ages 2 through 12 and their families.
I utilize an integrated approach to treatment, meaning that I draw from a number of theoretical perspectives. I believe that each family, based on their presenting concerns and unique situation, may require different types of intervention to best meet their needs. My work with families can be described as relationship and insight oriented with a goal of assisting individuals in gaining greater understanding of how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors impact their current situation as well as how past experiences color their feelings about themselves and their interactions with others. My background and education in child development, attachment theory, and child-centered play therapy greatly inform and guide my treatment of families. Play therapy is the predominate treatment modality utilized during individual treatment with children. Cognitive-behavioral strategies are also often integrated to address behavior challenges
I look forward to the opportunity to work with your family!
